AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE

A UNII=ORM DATE FOR THE COMMENCEMENT OF TERMS OF ELECTED
MUNICIPAL OFFICERS
WHEREAS, Section 3- 2- 2 of the Illinois Municipal. Code , Chapter 24
of the Illinois Revised Statutes , establishes the procedures for the con-
duct of elections for municipal officers ; and
WHEREAS, said Section has been amended pursuant to Public Act
81- 1490, effective December 1, 1980 , which Act amends said Section 3- 2- 2
to allow the corporate authorities to provide by ordinance for the
fixing of the date for inauguration of newly elected officers of the
municipality; and
WhEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Oak Brook deem the passage of an ordinance establishing a uniform date
for the inauguration of newly elected officers in the commencement of
their terms to be in the best interest of the Village ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS as follows :
Section 1 : That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set
forth are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein.
Section 2 : Article II of Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances of
the Village of Oak Brook be and the same is hereby amended by adding
thereto Section 2- 26 entitled "Commencement of Terms of Newly Elected
Officers" which Section shall read as follows :
Section 2- 26 Commencement of Terms_of Newly Elected Officers :
The terms of the newly elected officers shall commence as
of May 1st immediately following the regular municipal
election in that year.
Section 3 : The provisions of this Ordinance shall be in full
force and efrect from and upon the passage and approval of this Ordinance
and shall be applicable to all municipal officers elected April 7, 1981
and thereafter.
Section 4 : That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with
the provisions of this Ordinance be and the same are hereby repealed.
