AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12-87 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS REGARDING FIRE PROTECTION
WATER SUPPLY RATE CHARGES
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Oak Brook, Illinois have heretofore by Ordinance established rates ,
fees and service charges for water usage including a fire pro-
tection water supply rate charge ; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees deemnatrevision of
said charges and the passage of this Ordinance best
interest and in furtherance of the general welfare of the Village ;
NOW, THEREFORE , ORDAINED

Section 1 : That Section 12-87 (C) (10) of the- Code of Ordinances
of the Village of Oak Brook, Illinois be and is hereby amended to
read as follows :
Section 12-87 (C) (10) - Fire Protection Water Supply
Rate C arge
An annual fire protection water supply rate charge
is hereby imposed , said rate to be pro-rated and
based on billing period established for the user ,
on the following formula:
(a) Base building charge. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 0 . 014
(b) Extra hazard. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 0 . 001
(c) Ordinary construction. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 0 . 001
(d)• Frame construction. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 0 . 004
(e) Total of items (a) , (b) , (c) and (d) as
are applicable to the user ' s building
based on the definitions contained
herein.
(f) The square foot area of the applicable
user ' s building times the rate established
in item (e) . There then shall be allowed
credits to the amount determined on the
following basis :
(g) The square foot area sprinklered times 0 . 010

The annual rate shall be the amount determined
in item (f) less the amounts , if any, in items
(g) and (h) .

"Extra hazard" as used herein is as defined in
the National Fire Protection Association
Manual #13 Standard for the Installation of
sprinkler systems .
"Ordinary construction" as used herein is as.
defined as Type III , B and III , C construction
in the Chicago Building Code of 1973 - 1977 •

Charges
"Frame construction" as used herein is as defined as
Type IV, A and IV, B in the Chicago Building Code
of 1973.
Square foot area of the building shall be as determined
by the actual measurement from exterior wall to ex-
terior wall , per floor , including basements and
penthouses.
"Approved detector system" as used herein means such a
system conforming with the provisions of standard 72E
of the National Fire Codes published by the National
Fire Protection Association.
Section 2 : That the portion of Section 12-87 (C) (9) of said Code
of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook entitled "Private Fire
Protection Connections" be and is hereby amended to read as follows :
"Private Fire Protection Connections :
Up to and including 6 inch diameter , per month. . . . . . $ 12 . 00
Over 6 inch, per month. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 24. 00
Fire hydrant , per hydrant , per month. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 2 . 36
provided that none of said charges shall be applicable to
properties paying fire protection water supply charges
pursuant to Section 10-87 (C) (10) of this Code".
Section 3 : That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with
the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent
of such conflict .
Section 4 : That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect Trom and after its passage , approval and publication in pam-
phlet form as provided by law.
Section S : That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form as required by
law.
