ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9-13(a)
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAR BROOK
RELATIVE TO THE DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS OR AIR
RIFLES; SHOOTING WITH BOW AND ARROW
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities have received canplaints fran certain
residents of the Village that their property has been damaged by arrows shot-by
careless or inexperienced archers; and
WHEREAS, a bow and arrow is a dangerous weapon which can cause grave
bodily harm; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Village that shooting with a
bow and arrow be prohibited in the Village except in limited and controlled
cir-unstances under adult supervision.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRDSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS:
Section 1: That subsection (a) of Section 9-13 is amended to read as
follows:
Section 9-13. Discharging firearms or air rifles; shooting With bow and
arrow.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any firearm or air
rifle or to shoot with a bow and arrow or similar device within the
corporate limits of the Village. The provisions of this subsection do
not apply to:
(1) Law enforcement officials of this or any other jurisdiction,
while engaged in the operation of their official duties.
(2) Duly enrolled :nenbers of any club, team or society organized for
educational purposes, having written permission fr an the chief of
police to use an indoor or outdoor range, including archery
ranges, under the supervision, guidance and instruction of a
responsible adult, and in actual connection with the activities
of said club, tear or society under the supervision of a
responsible adult.
Section 2: All ordinances, resolutions, orders, or parts thereof, in
conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are, to the extent of such
conflict, hereby suoerceded.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be in full Force and effect upon its
passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
