ORDINANCE NO. G- 389
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE VI OF APPENDIX D
(Personnel Rules and Regulations)
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAR BROOK
WHEREAS, the Village of Oak Brook wishes to modify the Personnel Rules
and Regulations by providing all employees with the equivalent of a half day
holiday before both the Christmas and New Year's holiday designated by the
Village; and
the Village of Oak Brook wishes to provide an additional week
of vacation fo,,i employees who have completed twenty (20) years of service; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Village that the Personnel
Rules and Regulations be amended to reflect these changes;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAR BROOK, DU P1� R AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That subsections (a) , (c) , (e) and (f) of Section 3
entitled "Holidays" of Article VI entitled "Attendance and Leaves" of Appendix D,
Personnel Rules and Regulations, of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak
Brook is amended to read as follows:
(a) [Designated.] The following and other days as may be
designated annually by the Village Board are paid holidays
with straight-time for full-time employees.
New Year's Day
One-Half Day Good Friday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Day after Thanksgiving
One-Half Day Christmas Eve (if December 25th falls on a
Saturday, Sunday or Monday, see (e) , (f) and (f-1) below)
Christmas Day
One-Half Day New Year's Eve (if January 1st falls on a
Saturday, Sunday or Monday, see (e) , (f) and (f-1) below)
(c) Fire and Police Personnel. Personnel will receive equal
time during the calendar year for holidays as scheduled by
their Department Head.
(e) On Sunday. Whenever a holiday, except Christmas Eve and
New Year's Eve, falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall
be considered a holiday. If December 25th or January 1st
falls on a Sunday, the one-half day Christmas Eve and New
Year's Eve holidays will be observed on the previous Friday
afternoon.
(f) On Saturday. When a holiday, except Christmas Eve and New
Year's Eve, falls on a Saturday, the previous Friday shall be
considered a holiday. If December 25th or January 1st falls
on a Saturday, the one-half day Christmas Eve and New Year's
Eve holidays will be observed on the previous Thursday
afternoon.
(f-1) On Monday. When Christmas or New Year's falls on a
Monday, the one-half day Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve
holidays will be observed on the previous Friday afternoon.
Section 2: That Section 4 ('Vacation Leave") of Article VI entitled
"Attendance and Leave" of Appendix D, Personnel Rules and Regulations, of the
Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook is amended by adding subsection
(o-l) as follows:

(o-1) Five Weeks After Twenty Years Service--Each regular
full-time employee shall be allowed one additional week of
vacation leave with pay in the calendar year in which he
completes his twentieth year of service.
Section 3: That subsection (d) of Section 4 ("Vacation Leave") of
Article VI entitled "Attendance and Leaves" of Appendix D, Personnel Rules and
Regulations, of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook is amended by
adding subsection (4) as follows:
(4) Five Weeks After Twenty Years Service. Each management
Employee shall be allowed one additional week of vacation
leave with pay in the calendar year in which he completes his
twentieth year of service.
Section 4: All ordinances, rules and regulations of the Village of Oak
Brook which are conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby
repealed to the extent of the conflict.
Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after it passage and approval by law.
