AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE G-177 THE TRAFFIC CODE OF THE
VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK ILLINOIS AS AMENDED, AND PROVIDING FOR
MODIFICATION OF TURNING RESTRICTIONS AT MIDWEST ROAD AND SAINT JOSEPH DRIVE
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak
Brook, Illinois have heretofore enacted Ordinance G-177, being an ordinance
regulating traffic within the Village of Oak. Brook; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have amended said
Ordinance pursuant to Ordinance G-394 passed February 24, 1987, which ordinance
amended Section 1-913 of Ordinance G-177 by making unlawful right-hand turns from
Midwest Road to Saint Joseph Drive, Monday through Friday between the hours of
7:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M.; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have reviewed this matter
and deem that such turn restrictions may create a hardship to school buses
attempting to pick up or drop off school children in this area and, therefore,
deem the amendment of this Ordinance to exempt school buses from said turn
restrictions to be in the best interest of the general welfare of the residents
of the Village of Oak Brook;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth
are hereby incorporated herein as though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Schedule I% of Ordinance G-177 entitled "Prohibited
Turns" is hereby amended by amending subparagraph 8 thereof to read as follows:
It shall be unlawful for the operator of any motor vehicle,
except a school bus as defined in paragraph 1-182 of the
Illinois Vehicle Code, Chapter 95 1/2 of the Illinois Revised
Statutes, travelling in a northerly direction on Midwest Road
to make a right-hand turn so as to travel in an easterly
direction on Saint Joseph Drive between the hours of 7:00 A.M.
and 9:00 A.M., Monday through Friday.
Section 3: That the appropriate officers and employees of the Village
of Oak Brook are hereby authorized and directed to post said signs in conformance
with the provisions of Section 2 of this Ordinance to implement the provisions of
this Ordinance.
Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form and the posting
of the appropriate signs as directed in Section 3 hereof.
Section 5: That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the
provisions of this Ordinance be and the same are hereby repealed to extent of
such conflict.
Section 6: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
