AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE V OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK RELATING TO THE FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND AND
RENAMING IT AS THE FIREFIGHTERS' PENSION FUND
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance G-71 passed and approved May 23, 1967,
the Firemen's Pension Fund of the Village of Oak Brook was created; and
WHEREAS, the statutory provisions regarding the Firemen's Pension Fund
had been amended renaming the same as the Firefighters' Pension Fund; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees deem it
appropriate that the Firemen's Pension Fund of the Village of Oak Brook be
renamed as the Firefighters' Pension Fund of the Village of Oak Brook to conform
to said statute; and
WHEREAS, the Village President Board of Trustees deem the further
amendment of said Article V appropriate so as to delete provisions which are
already contained in the statutory provisions relating to the Firefighters'
Pension Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That Article V of Chapter 6 of the Code of Ordinances of
the Village of Oak Brook, entitled "Firemen's Pension Fund" be and is hereby
renamed "Firefighters' Pension Fund".
Section 2: That Section 6-71 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village
of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
Firefighters defined: The term "firefighters" as used in this
article shall mean full-time paid members of the fire
department and shall not include part-time or volunteer fire-
fighting personnel and no member of the fire department other
than full-time paid members of the fire department shall be
qualified to receive any of the benefits provided herein.
Section 3: That Section 6-72 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village
of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 6-72, Creation of Fund: There is hereby created a
pension fund to be known as the Firefighters' Pension Fund,
which pension fund shall operate pursuant to the statutory
authority as contained in Article 4 of Chapter 108 112 of the
Tllinois Revised Statutes.
Section 4: That Sections 6-73 through 6-78, inclusive, of the Code of
Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval as required by law.
