AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE VI OF THE PERSONNEL
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK REGARDING
HOLIDAYS AND VACATION
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Oak Brook have heretofore passed and approved Personnel Rules and Regulations,
codified as Appendix D to the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook; and
WHEREAS, on December 16, 1987, the Village Board considered amendments
thereto; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees deem it
appropriate to amend the Personnel Rules and Regulations to clarify the
computation of vacation pay for part-time employees entitled thereto and to
equalize holidays for all full-time Village employees;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That Article VI Section 3(a) of the Personnel Rules and
Regulations of the Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Section 3. Holidays. (a) [Designated. ] The following and
other days as may be designated annually by the Village Board
are paid holidays with straight-time for full-time employees.
New Year's Day
One-Half Day Good Friday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve (if December 25th falls on a Saturday, Sunday or
Monday, see paragraphs (e) , (f) and (f-1) below)
Christmas Day
One-Half Day New Year's Eve (if January 1st falls on a
Saturday, Sunday or Monday, see paragraphs (e) , (f) and (f-1)
below)
Section 2: That Article VI Section 4(a)(1) is hereby amended to read
as follows:
(1) Vacation leave is computed in conjunction with the
calendar year and earned in the calendar year prior to that in
which it is taken, except that the initial vacation leave for
part-time employees pursuant to the provisions of subsection
(j) hereof shall be based upon all prior consecutive pay
periods which said employee has worked.
Section 3: That Article VI Section (5) is hereby amended to read as
. follows:
Part-time employees and temporary employees are not entitled
to holiday pay or sick pay privileges but are entitled to
vacation pay pursuant to the provisions of Section 4(j) of
this Article VI.

Section 4: That except as amended hereby the Personnel Rules and
Regulations of the Village of Oak Brook shall remain in full .force. and effect and
are hereby ratified and confirmed.
Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval as required by law.
