AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-16 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
RELATING TO THE COMPOSITION OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities deem the creation of the position of
captain of the fire department to be in the best interest of the Village of
Oak Brook; and
WHEREAS, the creation of three (3) captain positions eliminates the need
for three (3) lieutenant positions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section l: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are
hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Section 6-16 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of
Oak Brook be and hereby are amended to read as follows:
Section 6-16. Composition.
The fire department shall consist of the following members:
(1) One (1) fire chief.
(2) Three (3) captains.
(3) Six (6) fire lieutenants.
(4) Twenty-four (24) firemen.
Section 3: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and upon the appointment of such captains by the Board of Fire and Police
Commissioners from the rank of fire lieutenant.
