G-435 - 11/14/1989 - FIRE CODE - Ordinances ORDINANCE G- 435 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK ADOPTING A FIRE PREVENTION CODE WHEREAS, the Village President and.Board of Trustees have heretofore established a Fire Prevention Code which has been codified as Article III of Chapter 6 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook, and WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees deem the amendment of said regulations to be in the best interest of the public health, safety and welfare; and WHEREAS, Paragraph 1-3-2 of Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes specifically authorizes the adoption of codes and public records by reference; and WHEREAS, the codes and portions thereof herein adopted have been filed in the office of the Village Clerk and are available for public use and inspection and have been on file for a period in excess of thirty days prior to the passage of this ordinance as required pursuant to the provisions of Paragraph 1-3-2 of Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein. Section 2: That Section 6-42 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 6-42. Codes adopted by reference. There are hereby adopted for the purpose of prescribing regulations, governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosions, the following codes and standards to be known as the Oak Brook Fire Prevention Code: 1. The BOCA National Fire Prevention Code, 1987 Edition, published by Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. 2. The Life Safety Code, 1988 Edition, published by the National Fire Protection Association, NFPA #101. 3. Volumes 1 through 7, with the exceptions of NFPA Nos. 70 and 70E, of the National Fire Codes, 1989 Edition, as published by the National Fire Protection Association. Ordinance G- 4 3 5 y An Ordinance Amending Article III of Chapter 6 Adopting a Fire Prevention Code Page 2 Section 3: That Section 6-43 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 6-43. Amendments to Fire Prevention Code. 1. The Fire Prevention Code, adopted pursuant to Section 6-42(1) hereof, is amended as follows: (a) The Fire Prevention Code, 1987 Edition, is amended by adding thereto Section F-505.10 entitled "Automatic Sprinkler Systems," which section shall read as follows: Automatic sprinkler systems shall be installed and maintained in full operating condition in all parts of all buildings, with the following exceptions: (1) One-story buildings under one thousand (1,000) square feet, without basements. (2) Single-family dwellings. (3) Existing buildings, provided such buildings otherwise comply with the requirements of Article 5 of this code for fire protection alarm equipment and further provided that such existing equipment complies with the provisions of the applicable NFPA National Fire Codes, hereby adopted. (b) The Fire Prevention Code, 1987 Edition, is amended by adding thereto Section F510.0 entitled "Fire Protection Equipment Supervision," which section shall read as follows: All fire protection equipment shall be supervised and shall terminate with the Village of Oak Brook Communications Center, to insure immediate notification of activation of this equipment. No. G-248, § 2, 6-26-79) (c) The Board of Appeals described in Section F-104.2 shall be comprised of the membership of the Village Board at the time of said Appeal. Section 4: That Sections 6-44, 6-46, 6-47, 6-48. 6-49 and 6-50 be and the same are hereby repealed. Section 5: That Section 6-45 of the Code of Ordinances be and is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 6-45. Establishment of limits of districts in which storage of explosives and blasting agents is to be prohibited. Limits referred to in Section F2601.2 of the Fire Prevention Code, 1987 Edition, in which storage of explosives and blasting agents is prohibited, are hereby established as the corporate limits of the Village of Oak Brook, except s Ordinance G- 4 3 5 An Ordinance Amending Article III of Chapter 6 Adopting a Fire Prevention Code Page 3 by special permit, and only when applied for and approved by the bureau of fire prevention. (Ord. No. G-101, §4, 1-28-69; Ord. No. G-248, § 3, 6-26-79) Section 6: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after passage and approval pursuant to law. Section 7: The Village Clerk is authorized and directed to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form. `. Section 8: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form in the manner required by law. PASSED THIS 14th day of November 1989.
