AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-25
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance G-285, passed and approved March 24,
1981, the corporate authorities adjusted the rate of compensation for Village
Trustee; and
WHEREAS, said ordinance prohibits a Trustee from receiving compensation
(i.e. , $25 per meeting) for more than one meeting per week, but allows a
Trustee to be paid for up to two absences per year; and
WHEREAS, there are occasions when the Board of Trustees has more than
one meeting per week; for example, the Board regularly meets on the second
Monday and second Tuesday of each month; and
WHEREAS, Section 3-13-7 entitled "Trustees -- Compensation fixed by
ordinance -- Expenses" of the Illinois Municipal Code (Chapter 65 of the
Illinois Compiled Statutes) provides in pertinent part:
5 3-13-7. Trustees shall receive the compensation that is fixed
by ordinance.
' L Such ordinance shall specify whether trustees are to be
compensated at an annual rate or for each meeting of the board of
trustees actually attended by each trustee (emphasis added) ; and
WHEREAS, said section of the Illinois Municipal Code does not
contemplate a limitation on the number of paid meetings per week nor payment
for absences; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Village that the Village
ordinance conform with the Illinois Municipal Code by eliminating any
limitation on the number of paid meetings per week and any payment for
meetings not actually attended,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth
are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Section 2-25 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village
of Oak Brook entitled "Compensation - Trustees" be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Section 2-25 Compensation - Trustees:
All persons elected subsequent to April 1, 1995 and serving in the
office of Village Trustee shall receive compensation for their

services as such trustee the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25) per
meeting for each meeting of the Board attended by such person. "
Section 3: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
