�-' AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-53
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
REGARDING PURCHASING AUTHORITY OF THE VILLAGE MANAGER
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees have heretofore
passed an ordinance codified as Section 2-53 of the Code of Ordinances of the
Village of Oak Brook regarding the purchasing authority of the Village
Manager; and
WHEREAS, Public Act 86-576, effective September 1, 1989, amends the
provisions of Section 8-9-1 of the Illinois Municipal Code (Chapter 65 of the
Illinois Compiled Statutes) , increasing from five thousand dollars ($5,000) to
ten thousand dollars ($10,000) the minimum amount of any contract which
requires prior competitive bidding; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees upon review of said
statutory amendment deem the amendment of Section 2-53 appropriate to maintain
consistency in the Code of Ordinances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth
`-- are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Section 2-53 of the Code of Ordinance of the Village of
Oak Brook, Illinois, entitled "Purchasing Authority" be and is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"Section 2-53. Purchasing Authority.
(a) All purchase orders and contract for supplies, materials or
equipment, or for contractual services, including printing and publication,
and all work or other public improvement contracts involving the expenditure
of not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) shall be authorized by the
Village Manager.
(b) All purchases, orders or contracts for supplies, materials,
equipment or contractual services, and all work or other public improvement
contracts which are not to be paid for by special assessment or special
taxation, involving the expenditure of more than ten thousand dollars
($10,000) shall be let or awarded in the manner provided in Section 2-182 of
this Code."
Section 3: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
publish this ordinance in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
