G-586 - 04/08/1997 - ZONING - Ordinances ORDINANCE 97-ZO-TA-G-586 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS VII(B)(2) OF ORDINANCE G-60, AS AMENDED, THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, an application has been filed requesting that Section VII(B) (2) (e) of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Oak Brook be amended, which section pertains to nameplates and signs in residence districts; and WHEREAS, the Plan Commission, on February 17, 1997, reviewed said application and has recommended its approval; and WHEREAS, a public hearing on the application has been conducted on March 4, 1997 by the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of Oak Brook pursuant to due and appropriate legal notice, and said Board has recommended approval of the amendment; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have reviewed these recommendations and concur with the recommendations and deem the passage of this ordinance to be in the best interest and in furtherance of the general welfare of the Village of Oak Brook; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein. Section 2: That Section VII(B) (2) (e) of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows: "(e) Identification signs for non-residential uses shall be permitted in accordance with the following regulations: (1) One identification sign affixed flat against a building wall and one ground sign, which in both cases may be illuminated by non-flashing direct or indirect illumination and shielded so that the source of light cannot be seen at any point within a residential district, may be erected along each street frontage. For an educational institution, the sign may contain not only the name of the institution, but also announcements of events or activities occurring at the institution. (2) Each such sign shall contain not more than sixteen (16) square feet of area and shall not project higher than ten (10) feet above ground grade, and no ground sign shall be Ordinance 97-ZO-TA-G- 586 Amending Section VII(B) (2) (e) , Page 2 located nearer than eight (8) feet from the nearest interior lot line nor closer to the front lot line than one-half the depth of the required front yard except: (i) a directional sign shall be not more than nine (9) square feet in area and shall not be located nearer than ten (10) feet from a street line; and (ii) a sign for an educational institution shall not be located nearer than ten (10) feet from a front lot line." Section 3: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law. Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish this ordinance in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law. PASSED THIS 8th day of April, 1997.
