G-629 - 03/23/1999 - LICENSE AGREEMENT - Ordinances ORDINANCE 99-LC-TA-G- 629 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8, ARTICLE 11 ENTITLED, "VEHICLES FOR HIRE" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook on April 9, 1996, enacted Ordinance G-569, known as"Taxi Ordinance", within the Village of Oak Brook; and WHEREAS, the Village Manager and staff, from time to time, have recommended amendments to Chapter 8, Article II entitled, "Vehicles For Hire" of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook; and WHEREAS, the Village Manager and staff have recommended further clarification of a certain portion of the Taxi Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees have reviewed this amendment and have approved the change recommended by the Village Manager and staff; WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees deem passage of this ordinance to be in the best interest and in pursuance of the general welfare of the Village of Oak Brook. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein. Section 2: That Section 8-42(d), Application For And Issuance Of Cab Company License of Chapter 8 of the Code of Ordinance of the Village of Oak Brook is amended to read as follows: "(d) A taxicab shall not be registered under subsection (c) above until it has passed a visual inspection by Oak Brook Police Department personnel to ascertain compliance with Sections 8-21, 8-22 and 8-29. If the taxicab successfully passes the inspection, police department personnel shall affix a sticker inside the rear window of the taxicab at the lower left corner, indicating that it is properly registered with the Village. The sticker shall remain on the taxicab throughout the term of the cab company license and shall not be removed. Section 3: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law. Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish this ordinance in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law. PASSED THIS 23rd day of March, 1999.
