ORDINANCE 1999-PL-G-652
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 5-9 AND 6-1
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, IL
WHEREAS, in the past, the Fire Chief has also served as the Village's Building Commissioner,
Building Inspector, and Building Official; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board recently approved the position of Director of Community
Development; and
WHEREAS, the Village Manager has recommended that the Director of Community Development
serve as the Village Building Commissioner, Building Inspector and Building Official, as those terms may
be used in the Village Code,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as
though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Section 5-9 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook is amended to
read as follows:
"Section 5-9.
Whenever in this chapter the term 'Building Official' is used, it shall mean the Director of
Community Development or his/her designee,who are authorized and directed to
administer and enforce the provisions of this chapter, making such determinations,
interpretations and orders as are necessary therefor and requiring such plats, plans and
other descriptive material as are necessary for him/her to judge compliance with this
chapter."
Section 3: That Section 6-1, entitled "Chief of Fire Department to serve where Building
Commissioner named" is repealed and deleted in its entirety.
Section 4: That all reference to Building Commissioner, Building Inspector and Building Official,
as those terms may be used in the Village Code, be changed to Director of Community Development.
Section 5: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication as required by law.
Section 6: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish this ordinance in
pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
