G-671 - 02/13/2001 - BOARD - OrdinancesORDINANCE 2001- BD- BOT -G- 671 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1-4 -1 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK RELATIVE TO COMPENSATION OF ELECTED VILLAGE OFFICIALS AND REPLACING ALL REFERENCES TO "THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES" WITH "THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT" WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook have enacted Ordinance G -537, on August 9, 1994, being an ordinance adjusting the compensation of the Village Trustees, which ordinance from time to time has been amended; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook have also enacted Ordinance G -626, on October 27, 1998, being an ordinance adjusting the compensation of the Village President and the Village Clerk, which ordinance from time to time has also been amended; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees deem a revision to Sections 1 -4 -1A, B and C to be appropriate, as certain language is no longer applicable to the current or future elected officials; and WHEREAS, certain references have been made to the incorrect terminology of "President of the Board of Trustees" in the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees wish to eliminate this incorrect terminology and replace it with the proper term, i.e., Village President. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein. Section 2: That Section 1 -4 -1 A, B and C of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook is amended to read as follows: "1 -4 -1. COMPENSATION: A. Any person elected after April 1, 1999 and serving in the office of President of the Village shall receive as compensation for services as President the sum of ten thousand four hundred dollars ($10,400.00) per year payable bi- weekly. B All persons elected subsequent to April 1, 1995 and serving in the office of Village Trustee shall receive as compensation for their services as such trustee the sum of forty dollars ($40) per meeting for each meeting of the Board attended by such person. C. Any person elected subsequent to April 1, 1999 and serving in the office of Village Clerk shall receive as compensation for such services as Village Clerk the sum of ten thousand four hundred dollars ($10,400.00) per year payable bi- weekly." 7 Ordinance 2001- BD -BOT -G -671 Compensation of Elected Officials and Reference to President of the Board of Trustees, Page 2 Section 3: That all reference to the term, "President of the Board of Trustees" be amended to read, "Village President". Specifically, these corrections shall be made to Section 1 -2 -2, Definitions; Section 1 -413-2, Composition; Powers; Section 2 -7 -28, Members; Appointment; and Section 4 -1-4A, Local Liquor Control Commissioner. Section 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law. Section 5: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish this ordinance in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law. PASSED THIS 13th day of FEBRUARY , 2001.
