G-694 - 02/26/2002 - LIBRARY - Ordinances ORDINANCE 2002-LY-G-694 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 2, CHAPTER 4, LIBRARY COMMISSION, OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, IL WHEREAS, the Illinois General Assembly has passed, and the Governor has signed, Public Act 92-0118 which provides that in each village subject to the Village Library Act, there shall be a library commission which shall consist of not less than three or more than seven members;that commission members shall be reimbursed for their actual and necessary expenses; and that commission members shall advise the Village Board of Trustees regarding library operations and such other duties as assigned by Village ordinance; and WHEREAS,the Oak Brook Library Commission,the Library Director and the Village Manager have recommended that the provisions of Public Act 92-0118 be incorporated into Title 2,Chapter 4, Library Commission. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein. Section 2: That Sections 2-4-1 through 2-4-3 of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook are hereby amended to read as follows: "2-4-1: COMMISSION CREATED; MEMBERS: The Board of Trustees shall appoint a Library commission of not less than three or more than seven members who shall hold office for terms of three years. 2-4-2:TERM: Terms shall be established so that no more than three members'terms expire in any single year. 2-4-3: COMPENSATION: Members of the commission shall receive no compensation, but shall be reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties." Section 3: That a new Section 2-4-4 of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook be hereby added to read as follows: "2-4-4: DUTIES: The Commission shall advise and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding the operations of the library and shall have such other powers and duties as the Village Board may establish by ordinance." Ordinance 2002-LY-G- 694 Amending Title 2, Chapter 4, Library Commission, Page 2 Section 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law. Section 5: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish this ordinance in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law. PASSED THIS 26th day of February, 2002.
