ORDINANCE 2002- SC +PD -OF -G -693
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12 -1 -5, ( "PERMITTED AND PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES ")
AND SECTION 6 -1 -18, ( "FIREWORKS ")
OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
RELATING TO VILLAGE RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
AND POLICE REGULATIONS, MISCELLANEOUS OFFENSES, RESPECTIVELY
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees have heretofore adopted certain rules
and regulations for the Sports Core, Oak Brook Golf Club, and Bath and Tennis Club, codified as Section
12 -1 -5 of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees have adopted certain fireworks
regulations which are codified in Section 6 -1 -18 of the Village Code; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois General Assembly has passed, and the Governor has signed, Public Act
92 -0093 which provides that a municipality may, by ordinance, prohibit the sale and use of sparklers on
public property; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees deem the following amendments to be in
furtherance of the public safety and general welfare of the citizens of the Village of Oak Brook;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as
though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Section 12 -1 -5 ( "Permitted and Prohibited Activities ") of the Village Code of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended by adding subsection H, I and J to read as follows:
"H. Operation of mechanical airborne devices, whether radio remote controlled, tethered or
mechanically /fuel propelled, is prohibited in all areas of the Sports Core. Such prohibited devices
include, but are not limited to, motorized model airplanes and toy rockets.
I. Unless authorized in writing by the Village Manager or his /her designee, no person shall sell or
offer for sale anywhere on the sports core any food, beverage, merchandise or service.
J. No person may sell or use sparklers in any area of the sports core."
Section 3: That Section 6 -1 -18 ( "Fireworks ") of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook be
and is hereby amended by adding subsection C to read as follows:

"C. No person may sell or use sparklers on public property."
Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish this Ordinance in
pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after passage, approval
and publication in pamphlet form, as provided by law.
