AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 9 OF TITLE 1
OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS
REGARDING THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT
WHEREAS, the Village of Oak Brook ( "Village ") is subject to the Illinois Freedom of Information
Act, 5 ILCS 140/1 et seq. ( "Act'); and
WHEREAS, Chapter 9 of Title 1 of the "Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook, Illinois," as
amended ( "Village Code"), sets forth the Village's procedures and policies for complying with the Act
(701A Code Provisions"); and
WHEREAS, the Illinois General Assembly has approved numerous and comprehensive
amendments to the Act since the Village adopted its FOIA Code Provisions; and
WHEREAS, the FOIA Code Provisions do not reflect the more recent amendments made to the
Act; and
WHEREAS, the Act no longer requires the Village to include FOIA Code Provisions in the Village
Code; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board has determined that it will serve and be in the best interests of the
Village to amend the Village Code pursuant to this Ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: Recitals. The foregoing recitals are incorporated into, and made a part of, this
Ordinance as the findings of the Village President and Board of Trustees.
Section 2: Repealer. Chapter 9 of Title 1 of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook,
Illinois shall be, and is hereby, repealed in its entirety and reserved for future use.
Section 3: Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, approval and publication as required by law.
Section 4: Repeal. All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
