G-858 - 05/13/2008 - BOARD - OrdinancesORDINANCE 2008 -BD- OBHCVC -G -858 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2 -5 -2 AND 2 -5 -3 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK RELATING TO THE HOTEL, CONVENTION AND VISITORS COMMITTEE WHEREAS, Ordinance G -452, passed and approved September 25, 1990, created a Hotel, Convention and Visitors Committee (Committee), which ordinance has been codified as Title 2, Chapter 5, Sections 1 through 4 of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook, and WHEREAS, Section 2 -5 -2 was amended by Ordinance G -467 on May 28, 1991 and again by Ordinance G -702 on August 13, 2002 in order for the corporate authorities of the Village of Oak Brook to increase the number of members of the Committee, and WHEREAS, the corporate authorities desire to further amend the provisions of said Section 2 -5 -2 in addition to Section 2 -5 -3, relating to the number of members of the Committee and meetings, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows Section 1 That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein Section 2 That Section 2 -5 -2A of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows `2 -5 -2: MEMBERSHIP; APPOINTMENTS: A Appointment The Village President shall appoint ten (10) persons to serve as directors of the Committee, subject to the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees The Committee shall consist of six (6) persons who operate or manage a hotel or motel within the corporate limits of the Village, one (1) representative of the Oak Brook Area Association of Commerce and Industry, one (1) representative of Oakbrook Center, and two (2) residents -at -large of the Village " Section 3 That Section 2 -5 -313 of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows `2 -5 -3: OFFICERS; MEETINGS: B Meetings Five (5) Committee members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of its business A majority vote of Committee members shall constitute approval of business before it Special meetings may be called by the chairperson or by no less than four (4) members of the Committee All meetings of the Committee shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Illinois Open Meetings Act " Section 4.
