Gonnella, CMC Village Clerk 1"1 ORDINANCE 2004 -PL -G -754 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 1 ( "ADMINISTRATION ") OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK WITH RESPECT TO THE RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND AUTHORITY OF THE VILLAGE MANAGER (CHAPTER 5, ARTICLE A) WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook have determined that it is necessary to limit certain responsibilities, duties and authority of the Village Manager NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows Section 1 Section 1 -5A -3 —B, entitled HIRING, DISCHARGE OF EMPLOYEES, shall be deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following B Hiring, Discharge of Employees The Village Manager shall have the responsibility for the hiring of new employees, contract or otherwise, but only with the approval of the Village Board of Trustees The Village Manager may not reassign a current employee, except a seasonal employee, to a different position with different responsibilities within the Village without the approval of the Village Board of Trustees The Village Manager may not promote an employee within the Village or create or assign anyone to any "Interim" or "Acting" position without the approval of the Village Board of Trustees The Village Manager shall have the responsibility for the discharge of all Village employees This paragraph does not apply to all employees covered under the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners or other "tenure of office" laws This paragraph also does not apply to department heads appointed by the Village President with the consent of the Village Board of Trustees, however, the village manager shall recommend the hiring and discharge of said department heads to the President and Board Section 2 Section 1 -5A -4 PURCHASING AUTHORITY — Sub - section A shall be amended by deleting the words "ten thousand dollars ($10,000 00)" where they appear therein and replacing the same with "five thousand dollars ($5,000 00)" Section 3 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law Section 4 All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict i APPROVED THIS 10th day of August, 2004 Keyrn Quinlan V age Preside PASSED THIS 10th day of August, 2004 Ayes Trustees Aktipis, Craig, Korin and Zannis Nays Trustee Yusuf Absent, Trustee Caleel ATTEST Linda K Gonnella, CMC Village Clerk 4r � �5 Ordinance 2004 -PL -G -754 Amending Title 1 with Respect to Village Manager Page 2 ORDINANCE 2004 -PL -G -754 PAMPHLET BACK OF PAMPHLET AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 1 ( "ADMINISTRATION ") OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK WITH RESPECT TO THE RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND AUTHORITY OF THE VILLAGE MANAGER (CHAPTER 5, ARTICLE A) PUBLISHED IN PAMPHLET FORM BY ORDER OF THE CORPORATE AUTHORITIES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS
