G-701 - 08/13/2002 - BIKE PATH - OrdinancesORDINANCE 2002- BD- SPC -G- 701 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 -7 -2 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK RELATIVE TO THE SAFETY PATHWAY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Oak Brook, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, adopted Ordinance G-488 on June 23, 1992, establishing the Safety Pathway Committee in and for the Village of Oak Brook; and WHEREAS, the Safety Pathway Committee recommends the reduction in the total number of members from nine to seven and the required number of members from each quadrant of the Village be reduced from two to one; and WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village have determined that by reducing the total number of members from nine to seven and further reducing the number of members from each quadrant from two to one to be in the best interests of the Village of Oak Brook and its citizens and residents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section -L That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein. Section 2: That Section 2 -7 -2 be amended to read as follows: 2 -7 -2: MEMBERS; APPOINTMENT: A. Appointment: There shall be seven (7) members of the committee. They shall be appointed as follows: one (1) resident from each quadrant in Oak Brook, using Route 83 and Oak Brook Road as the quadrant coordinates. The village president shall appoint four (4) members and the president of the park district will appoint two (2) members. The village president shall also appoint one member at large. Initial appointments shall include three (3) members being appointed for one and one -half (1 -1 /2) year terms in order to avoid having all terms expire simultaneously. B. Terms: 1. Except as set forth above, members will be appointed for a three (3) year term and they will elect a chairperson each July for a one year term. The committee will be supported by a member of the village's staff and a member of the Oak Brook park district staff. These staff appointments will be made by the village president and the president of the Oak Brook park district, respectively. 2. No appointee's terms shall expire after June 30, 2003, at which time the committee shall cease and disband, unless extended by the affirmative vote of both the president and board of trustees and the board of commissioners of the Oak Brook park district.
