AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13 -11 -8A
OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, at its meeting on July 21, 2008, the Plan Commission reviewed a proposed
amendment to Section 13 -11 -8A of the Zoning Ordinance to allow ground signs with tenant names on a
parcel with less then five (5) acres, and
WHEREAS, by a vote of 4 to 0 the Plan Commission recommended approval of the proposed
amendment, and
WHEREAS, on August 5, 2008, the Zoning Board of Appeals conducted a public hearing in
connection with a proposed amendment to Section 13 -11 -8A of the Zoning Ordinance, and
WHEREAS, by a vote of 6 to 0 the Zoning Board of Appeals recommended approval of the
proposed amendment, and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees have reviewed the recommendation of
the Zoning Board of Appeals and deem the amendment, as set forth below, to be in the best interests of
the Village
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows
Section 1 The foregoing preambles are restated and incorporated herein by reference as though
fully set forth herein
Section 2 Section 13 -11 -8A of the Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended by adding the following
as Subsection 2
In a retail /commercial development containing less than five (5) acres, a maximum of one
(1) ground sign, which identifies the name and address of the development and may also
identify the name and services or merchandise of each of the tenants located in the
center, may be erected in addition to signs affixed to the building walls, provided that the
sign shall not exceed a total area of one hundred - twenty six (126') square feet, not to
exceed sixty -three (63') square feet on either side and shall not exceed ten feet six
inches (10'6 ") feet in height
Section 3 If any section, paragraph, clause or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid,
the invalidity thereof shall not affect any of the other provisions of this ordinance
Section 4 All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict
Section 5 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication as required by law
