AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7 (PURCHASES AND
CONTRACTS) OF TITLE 1 ( "ADMINISTRATION ") OF THE
VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WITH RESPECT TO THE DEFINITION OF CONSULTING SERVICES
AND REQUIRED AUTHORIZATION BY THE VILLAGE BOARD
OF TRUSTEES PRIOR TO CONTRACTING FOR CONSULTING SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook has determined that it is necessary
to define consulting services and provide a guideline for authorization of the hiring of a consultant
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows
Section 1 Section 2, (Definitions) of Chapter 7 of Title 1 of the Village Code of the Village of Oak
Brook, is hereby amended by adding the following definition.
CONSULTING SERVICES Persons or firms having education and experience which
uniquely qualifies them to perform some specialized service and who are considered to
have special knowledge or abilities in their field of expertise not otherwise generally
available Such services are of an advisory and limited nature relating to a specific area
of municipal government
Section 2 Section 6 (Professional Services) of Chapter 7 of Title 1 of the Village Code of the
Village of Oak Brook, is hereby amended by adding a subsection C as follows
C Contracts or purchase orders for consulting services that are necessary in the day -to -day
operation of the Village shall be approved by the Village Board if the value of the contract is
greater than Five Thousand and No Hundredths Dollars ($5,000 00) either for a one (1) time
consultation or for services that are cumulatively charged to the Village during any Fiscal
Year
Section 3 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication as required by law
Section 4 All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and
the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict
