S-1303 - 02/22/2011 - PERSONAL PROPERTY - Ordinances Supporting DocumentsAGENDA ITEM Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of February 22, 2010 SUBJECT: Surplus Property FROM: Rania Serences, Purchasing Clerk BUDGET SOURCEIBUDGET IMPACT: N/A ITEM G.G. t' ?' RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items. Backeround/Historv: The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of vehicles, furniture, a camera, and police pursuit vehicle equipment that have reached the end of their useful life or have been replaced with newer models. Units 301, a 2006 Ford Expedition, and 303, a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, were used by the Police Department. Unit 301 has high idle time and Unit 303 has engine water damage. Unit 410A, a 1996 Ford F -350, was used by the Sports Core, but is no longer needed due to the elimination of the Sports Core Maintenance Employee position. The furniture was donated by a company that relocated. The police pursuit vehicle equipment can no longer be used because the equipment is retrofitted for Crown Victoria's, which will no longer be manufactured by Ford. The Village will first register the vehicles and furniture with an online auctioneer run by the State of Illinois, known as iBid. If inadequate or no bids are received through the online auction, staff will advertise for bids in the local newspaper. If no bids are received through the newspaper advertisement, items will be offered to local schools, churches and not - for - profit agencies. The police pursuit vehicle equipment will be offered to other municipalities. Any remaining items will be disposed of. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items.
