Kubiesa, Village Attorney RECOMMENDATION: That the Village Board pass, and the President approve, Ordinance 2003 -PP -S- , as submitted herewith, authorizing the sale of surplus vehicles seized by the Oak Brook Police Department. On September 9, 2003, Detective Sergeant Jeffrey Weber, of the Oak Brook Police Department, requested an ordinance allowing the police department to purge surplus vehicles, recently awarded to the department after being seized pursuant to Illinois law, from their control. This would allow the police department to sell the vehicles to the highest bidder. Kubiesa, Village Attorney. 3 ANNOUNCEMENTS AND OPEN FORUM ANNOUNCE Trustee Aktipis announced that Mr. Stephen Becker has resigned as President from the Civic Association and David Saxman will be the new president. He also encouraged residents to take part in this organization. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES. MINUTES Motion by Trustee Craig, seconded by Trustee Miologos, to approve the Minutes of SPEC MTG - the Special Board of Trustees Meeting of September 8, 2003 as presented and 09 -08 -03 waive the full reading thereof. VOICE VOTE- Motion carried. Motion by Trustee Yusuf, seconded by Trustee Miologos, to approve the Minutes REGULAR MTG of the Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of September 9, 2003 as presented and - 09 -09 -03 waive the full reading thereof. Motion carved VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK Minutes Page 3 of 7 September 23, 2003 c ORDINANCE 2003 -PP -S- 1053 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK WHEREAS, the Village of Oak Brook (hereinafter the "Village ") has taken title to the below listed vehicles pursuant to court order and the seizure and forfeiture provisions of the Illinois Criminal Code (see 720 ILCS 5/36 -1 and following sections), and WHEREAS, in the opinion of a majority of the corporate authorities of the Village, it is no longer necessary or useful to or in the best interests of the Village to retain the below described vehicles which are surplus personal property now owned by the Village, and WHEREAS, the Village wishes to auction said vehicles over the internet or other auction service, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows. Section 1 That the foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as findings of the corporate authorities Section 2 That pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11 -76 -4, the President and Board of Trustees find that the following described vehicles.
