S-1351 - 09/25/2012 - PERSONAL PROPERTY - Ordinances Supporting DocumentsP EM 6.F. 10) AGENDA ITEM Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of September 25, 2012 SUBJECT: Surplus Property FROM: Rania Serences, Purchasing Clerk BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: N/A RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance declaring 242 Lladro figurines as surplus. Background/History: On November 25, 2008, Rick and Carole Radmacher donated 242 Lladro porcelain figurines to the Oak Brook Library. The Library Special Acquisition Policy states that "items will be disposed of only in a manner that will protect the interests, objectives, and legal status of the Village of Oak Brook. This may include returning to the original donor, sale, trade, offer at public auction, or discard." In order to accomplish any of these tasks, we must first declare the Lladro figurines as surplus. Private individuals, as well as collectors, have approached the Library offering to purchase some of the figurines. The Village recently received a letter from Janet Gale Hammer, from aretiredcollection.com, stating her interest in purchasing one of the figurines for $825. Staff is recommending declaring the figurines as surplus in order to sell individual pieces as interest in the pieces arise. The Village may also return the figurines to the original donor, trade, offer at public auction, or discard as stated in the policy. The Library Director will seek the Village Manger's approval on each disposition. Recommendation: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance declaring 242 Lladro figurines as surplus.
