OREM QP COUNT"' AGENDA ITEM Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of September 27, 2011 SUBJECT: Surplus Property FROM: Rania Serences, Purchasing Clerk BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: N/A RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items. Background/History: The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of various copier toner, two copier imaging units, a dictaphone, a typewriter, and two floor cleaning machines. These items have either reached the end of their useful life, are obsolete, or are no longer needed since the functions they perform can now be done on a computer. The Village will first register the items with an online auctioneer run by the State of Illinois, known as iBid. If inadequate or no bids are received through the online auction, staff will advertise for bids in the local newspaper. If no bids are received through the newspaper advertisement, items will be offered to local schools, churches and not - for - profit agencies. Any remaining items will be disposed of. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items. Last saved by rserence JAW0RDD0C\SURPLUS\2011 Surplus\2011 Toner dictaphone typeWiter.doe Last printed 9/23/20119:37 AM ORDINANCE 2011 -PP -S -1319 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE, DONATION OR DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN ITEMS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK WHEREAS, in the opinion of a majority of the corporate authorities, it is no longer necessary or useful or in the best interests of the Village to retain the items of personal property listed below; and WHEREAS, the Village wishes to dispose of said property by sale, donation or disposal; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: The foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as findings of the corporate authorities. Section 2: Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11 -76-4, the President and Board of Trustees find that the items listed below, now owned by the Village, are surplus property and are no longer necessary or useful to the Village and the best interests of the Village will be served by their sale. Section 3: Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11 -76-4, the Village Manager is hereby authorized and directed to dispose of the above items by sale, if possible, or by donation or disposal if sale is not possible. Section 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
