RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance
authorizing the sale of two surplus vehicles - Unit #702 and #307.
Backjzround /History:
The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of Unit #702 a 1989 GMC 3500 and Unit #307 a 2004
Ford Expedition. The GMC was originally used by the Public Works Department and then by
the Sports Core. It has high mileage, rusted body and high maintenance costs. The 2004 Ford
Expedition was used by the Police Department as the K -9 vehicle and has been replaced with a
newer model. Alex Kostueck, the Village Mechanic, was consulted and recommends the sale of
the vehicles.
The Village will first register these items with an online autioneer run by the State of Illinois,
known as iBid. We first used iBid in December 2007 to sell a 1980 Ford F360 that was used by
the Fire Department and the experience was favorable. If inadequate or no bids are received
through the online auction, staff will advertise for bids. If no bids are received the truck will be
disposed of
Recommendation:
That the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of two vehicles.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE, DONATION, ELECTRONIC
AUCTION OR DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN ITEMS OF PERSONAL
PROPERTY OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS, in the opinion of a majority of the corporate authorities, it is no longer necessary or
useful or in the best interests of the Village to retain the item of personal property listed below, and
WHEREAS, the Village wishes to dispose of said property by sale, donation, electronic auction or
disposal,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows
Section 1 The foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as findings of the corporate
authorities
Section 2 Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11 -76 -4, the President and Board of Trustees find that the
item listed below, now owned by the Village, is surplus property and is no longer necessary or useful to the
Village and the best interests of the Village will be served by its sale, donation or disposal

Section 4 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and
publication as required by law
