RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to Approve an Ordinance amending Article V of
the Personnel Manual of the Village of Oak Brook to include a service award for employees
completing thirty five (35) years of service with the Village.
Background /History:
Per the direction of the Village Board after the overview by Village Manager Boehm at the
Village Board Meeting of November 9, 2004, staff has drafted an ordinance to amend the
Personnel Manual to add a service award for employees completing thirty five (35) years of
service. As outlined, the policy establishes awards for employees reaching ten (10) years of
service, and thereafter, for each five (5) year duration completed (10, 15, 20, 255 30 and now 35
years of service).
Further, in keeping with the direction of the Board and recommendation of the Village Manager,
the award assigned to 35 years of service will be a $250.00 Gift Certificate from Oak Brook
Center.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Village Board approve an Ordinance amending Article V of the
Personnel Manual of the Village of Oak Brook to include a service award for employees
completing thirty five (35) years of service with the Village.

Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of November 8, 2004 VOICE VOTE: Motion

President Quinlan indicated that the Board had previously concurred to remove Agenda
Item 5. A., 7 Kubiesa, Spiroff, Gosselar & Acker, P.C. — Legal Services for month of
September - $17,143.50 to placed on the agenda of the next Village Board meeting.
Motion by Trustee Caleel, seconded by Trustee Yusuf, to approve the Consent 'Agenda
and authorize expenditures as amended. ROLL CALL VOTE.
Ayes- 5 - Trustees Aktipis, Caleel, Korm, Yusuf and Zannis.
Nays: 0 - None.
Absent- 1 - Trustee Craig. Motion carried.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE V OF THE PERSONNEL
MANUAL OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook have heretofore
adopted the Village of Oak Brook Personnel Manual, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that said Personnel Manual be amended
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows
Section 1 The provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as though
fully set forth herein
Section 2. Article V, Section 5 17(B) of the Personnel Manual of the Village of Oak Brook be and
is hereby amended to read as follows
B Service Awards
Service Awards are presented at the completion of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of
continuous employment to all full -time, part -time and volunteer employees of the Village
in recognition and appreciation of dedication and service to the residents of Oak Brook
In addition to the awards, all full -time employees of the Village shall receive the following,
based on length of continuous full -time employment
1 10 Years $75 Gift Certificate
2 15 Years $100 Gift Certificate
3 20 Years $175 Gift Certificate
4 25 Years Two (2) weeks additional vacation for that year only or two (2)
weeks additional pay, at the election of the employee
5 30 Years $200 Gift Certificate
6 35 Years $250 Gift Certificate
Section 3 All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby
repealed to the extent of the conflict
Section 4 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication as required by law
