An Ordinance Adopting a Revised Collection Management Policy for the Village of Oak
Brook Public Library:
Background /History:
This policy provides guidance to the Library Director and collection, managers of the Oak Brook
Public Library and informs the public about the principles upon which selection and retention of
collection materials is based. It is reviewed and/or revised biennially by the Library Director and
the Library Commission. The revisions here proposed are a pairing down of language that is
more appropriate in other policies and include the removal to the General Policy of the American
Library Association's Library Bill of Rights and Code of Ethics. We believe the shorter format
makes the selection process clearer to the public and Library staff.
Recommendation:
The Library Commission and the Director of the Library recommend this Ordinance be passed.
