In addition, Shales McNutt contacted 5 surveying firms with a request for professional services with two responding positively to the request. Over the past several days, we have had an opportunity to meet face to face with the apparent low bidders to discuss their respective scope of work and adherence to the contract documents. We have contacted banking and bonding references to determine the financial soundness of each of these firms, as well as contacting references to confirm the ability of each to complete the work. Based on the information received during the discussion and review, we have attached a recommendation of award for the packages represented above. In our recommendation, you will note that we have included an allowance for removal of an underground electrical ductbank containing what is believed to be a non-friable asbestos containing material. We have discussed potential removal requirements with an environmental abatement professional to determine an order of magnitude of the cost. Actual costs for this work will be determined at the time that the asbestos is encountered and removal is required. It is our intent to provide a Letter of Intent to the contractors listed following award of this project by the Village Board. We thank you in advance for your time and consideration in this matter.
