DEAN BOARD ROOM BUTLER GOVERNMENT CENTER 1200 OAK BROOK ROAD OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS 630-368-5000 AGENDA ITEM Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of September 11, 2018 SUBJECT: Surplus Property FROM: Rania Serences, Senior Purchasing Assistant BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: N/A RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus vehicles, trailer, tires, and water meters Background/History: The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of vehicles from the Fire and Police Departments, and trailer, water meters, and tires from the Public Works Department that have reached the end of their useful lives, or have been replaced with newer models. Unit #U95 is a former Fire Rescue & Management Vehicle, unit #322 is a former Police Investigation Unit, and unit #612 is a former Public Works Department trailer. The tires are for vehicles that we have previously sold and cannot reuse. The water meters have been removed from homes and businesses in Oak Brook as part of the Fixed Automatic Water Meter Reading System and Replacement Program. The tires and meters will be disposed of properly since the tires cannot be reused or sold due to safety risks, and the meters are no longer reading properly and are obsolete. To obtain the greatest resale amount for the surplus vehicles and trailer, they will first be registered on iBid, the online auction site run by the State of Illinois. If inadequate or no bids are received through the online auction, remaining surplus items will be disposed of properly. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the V illage Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items.
