Additionally, I move that the Village Board approves Resolution R-1742. Background/History: A solicitation for bids for the Fire Station 93 Bunk Room Renovation Project was posted on the Village website and sent to nineteen (19) companies on June 14, 2018. Fourteen (14) companies attended the mandatory pre-bid meeting on June 19, 2018 and five (5) sealed bids were received and opened on June 28, 2018 (see attached bid tabulation). Arcon (our consulting engineer) recommends that we award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Construction Solutions of Il., Inc. (see attached letter). References were reviewed and staff is satisfied. Originally constructed in 1970, the bunk room is in need of necessary improvements, including but not limited to; improved female accommodations and privacy, upgrading of electrical service, lighting, closets, storage space, ergonomic work stations, and carpeting. The carpet installation portion of the project was listed as an alternate and will be completed by Douglas Flooring in the amount of $6,175.00. Renovations to the existing ITEM 6.D.4 Page 2 bunk room area and the scope of the remodeling will help bring the facility into compliance and provide a livable space. The project will begin mid-September and is expected to be substantially completed by October 31, 2018. Recommendation: That the Village Board awards a contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Construction Solutions of Il., Inc., Alsip, Illinois, for the Fire Station 93 Bunk Room Renovation Project in the amount of $71,723.00. (Bid tabulation is attached). The lowest base bid of $71,723 was submitted by Construction Solutions of Illinois, Inc. from Alsip, IL. We have contacted them regarding their bid, performed a scope review and they have confirmed their pricing. ARCON has worked with Construction Solutions in the past, and we have found them to be a competent contractor. The base bid work includes all work required for the renovation of the bunk room itself, except for the purchase of the cabinetry and alternate number one. Alternate No. 1 provides for the purchase and installation of new carpet in the bunk room only. The demolition of the existing carpet is part of the base bid. It is our understanding that you will not be accepting the alternate bid from CSI. Therefore, ARCON Associates, Inc. recommends that the Board of Trustees for the Village of Oak Brook extend a contract to Construction Solutions of Illinois, Inc. for the Bunk Room Renovation work at the Oak Brook Fire Department Station 93 in the base bid amount of $71,723.00. WHEREAS, the Village of Oak Brook (“Village”) desires to improve the female accommodations of the Fire Station 93 bunk rooms, upgrade the electrical service, lighting, closets, and storage space, and upgrade ergonomic work stations and carpeting (“Work”); and WHEREAS, the Village solicited bids for the completion of the Work, pursuant to which the Village received five bids; and WHEREAS, Construction Solutions of IL, Inc., of Alsip, Illinois ("Construction Solutions"), is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for the completion of the Work; and WHEREAS, the Village and Construction Solutions desire to enter into and execute a Contract for the completion of the Work in an amount not to exceed $71,723.00 ("Contract"), which Contract is attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have determined that it is in the best interest of the Village to enter into the Contract with Construction Solutions; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: Recitals. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into, and made a part of, this Resolution as the findings of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook. Section 2: Approval of the Contract. The President and Board of Trustees hereby approve the Contract by and between the Village and Construction Solutions in substantially the same form attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A, and in a final form acceptable to the Village Attorney.
