Background/History: The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of file cabinets and office chairs from the Fire Department that have reached the end of their useful lives or have been replaced with newer models. The ordinance also authorizes that sale of (5) Smith & Wesson pistols from the Police Department. The pistols are currently assigned to officers who will retire in the near future. Upon retirement, the officer will have the option to purchase his/her assigned pistol at the current trade-in value. The pistols are currently 8 years old. The Village will first register the file cabinets and chairs with iBid, an online auctioneer run by the State of Illinois. If no bids are received through the online auction or retiring officers do not want to purchase their assigned pistol, any remaining items will then be disposed of properly.
