IV ego 0 AUNT ' AGENDA ITEM Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of January 28, 2014 SUBJECT: Surplus Property FROM: Rania Serences, Senior Purchasing Assistant BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: N/A RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items. Background/History: The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of workout equipment and Zoll battery chargers from the Fire Department, and a firing range target controller from the Police Department that have reached the end of their useful life or have been replaced with newer models. The Village will first register these items with iBid, an online auctioneer run by the State of Illinois. If no bids are received through the online auction, staff will donate to a non-for profit organization, if applicable, or dispose of properly. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items. j:\worddoc\surplus\2014 surplus\memos\2014 fd workout,batteries,and pd target controller.doc ORDINANCE 2014-PP-S-1393 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE THROUGH ELECTRONIC AUCTION OR BROKER, DONATION OR DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN ITEMS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK WHEREAS, in the opinion of a majority of the corporate authorities, it is no longer necessary or useful or in the best interests of the Village to retain the items of personal property listed below; and WHEREAS, the Village wishes to dispose of said property by sale through electronic auction or broker, donation or disposal; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: The foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as findings of the corporate authorities.
