Route 83 Fatal Crash
OAK BROOK, IL— September 28, 2021
On September 28, 2021, at approximately 12:50 AM, the Oak Brook Police Department
and Oak Brook Fire Department responded to a traffic crash Southbound Route 83 at
3V Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a gray or black Honda Accord on Route 83
near the overpass of 31 n Street. Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle was
traveling Southbound Route 83 near 31st Street when the car traveled off the roadway
to the right side. Shortly after, the vehicle crashed into the 31st Street overpass coming
to a final rest in the Southbound lanes of Route 83. The Honda Accord was on fire and
sustained severe front-end damage.
The seventeen (17) year old juvenile driver was declared deceased at the scene, and
no further information is available.
The Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigation Team (MERIT) Major Crash
Reconstruction Team continue to investigate the crash.
