G-1011 - 10/22/2013 - COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT - Ordinances Supporting Documents ITEM 6.I'.2 PGA Of 0Ak9 v O d S l i t ` f 0 a MR CF CO 11 AGENDA ITEM Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of October 22, 2013 SUBJECT: Text Amendment—Title 10, Building Regulations FROM: Bill Hudson, Chief Building Inspector BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: None RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move for passage of Ordinance G-1011, "An Ordinance Amending Section 10-1-2 Of The Village Code Of The Village Of Oak Brook Relating To Span Table Amendments In The International Building Code" Background/History: Southern Yellow Pine lumber has traditionally been considered a premium structural product, with bearing capacities that exceeded all other commonly available species. This additional strength factor has now been shown to have diminshed in recently harvested materials. In response, The American Wood Council and Southern Forest Products Association have provided some emergency amendments for our adopted Building and Residential codes. The proposed amendments are taken verbatim from those provided by The American Wood Council and Southern Forest Products Association. These amendments, as attached exhibits to the Ordinance, will be inserted into the Village Code by Sterling Codifiers. There are no other changes to the Building Codes proposed at this time. Recommendation: I recommend that this Ordinance be passed. / !
