SUBJECT: Authorizing the Purchase of Furniture for the Oak Brook Public Library

BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: $9,864.41 is included in the budget in the
Library General Operations, Equipment Replacement (511-90200) and will be reimbursed
in full through a grant.
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board authorize staff to issue
a Purchase Order to Demco, Inc., Madison, Wisconsin, in the amount of$9,864.41,
for the purchase of library furniture (15 armchairs and 3 loveseats). This money will
be reimbursed in full from the Illinois State Library through a grant that has been
already been awarded to the Village. Additionally, I move that the Village Board
approve Resolution R-1975.
Backp-round/History: Oak Brook Public Library staff applied for the "On the Road To
Recovery: Transforming Library Spaces" Grant from the Illinois State Library in August
of 2021 and was awarded $9,011 to purchase furniture that is more easily cleaned. This
new vinyl furniture will replace existing cloth furniture that is worn out, hard to clean in
instances of the pandemic, and have come to the end of their useful lives. Since the
awarding of the grant,the cost of the furniture has increased to$9,864.41. This higher price
still falls within the grants flexibility to vary from the approved budget providing the
potential to overspend equals 10% or less of the total grant award. The new furniture will
enhance the Library's seating options, while also making the building safer from
contagions due to its ability to be cleaned easier.
Recommendation:
That the Village Board authorize staff to issue a Purchase Order to Demco, Inc., Madison,
