SUBJECT: Agreement between John Krull and The Village of Oak Brook

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to approve Resolution 2022-PD-AG- INTCHF-
R-1988 entering into an agreement with John Krull to serve as Interim Police Chief.
Background/History:
The current Police Chief has submitted his resignation after ten years of service to the
Village; his last day in the office was Wednesday, December 29, 2021. The Illinois
Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP)provided several qualified candidates through
their Linebacker Program. An interview process was conducted with qualified and
competent candidates and it was found that the appointment of John Krull is in the best
interest of the Village. Mr. Krull has previously served as Deputy Police Chief and Police
Chief in two suburban Chicagoland municipalities as well as Interim Police of Chief for
another governmental agency, making him uniquely qualified to step into the Police Chief
role.
Recommendation:
President Lalmalani requests confirmation of his appointment of John Krull as Interim
Police Chief and approval of Resolution R-1988, and authorization to execute the
attached agreement.
