Kruger Ys. Service to the Village 91e FROM: John A. Krull Interim Chief of Police BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: None RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to approve Resolution No. 2022-PD-R-1991 honoring and recognizing Chief of Police and Interim Village Manager James R. Kruger Jr.'s service to the Village, its residents and the law enforcement profession. Background/History: James R.Kruger Jr.has served the Village of Oak Brook as Police Chief from November 2011 to December 2021 and also as Interim Village Manger from June 2021 to December 2021. During this time James R.Kruger Jr.,consistently displayed the highest degree of integrity and expertise. Throughout the course of his career, James R. Kruger Jr., has consistently represented the Village of Oak Brook in an exemplary manner. Recommendation: Staff requests the Village Board approve Resolution No.2022-PD-R-1991 recognizing the contributions of James R. Kruger Jr.'s to the Village of Oak Brook. BOT AGENDA Page 1 RESOLUTION 2022-AP-R-1991 RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION WHEREAS, James R. Kruger Jr. has been employed with the Village of Oak Brook, in the capacity of Chief of Police from November 2011 through January 2022 and also as Interim Village Manager from June 2021 through December 2021; and WHEREAS, James R. Kruger Jr. has consistently displayed the highest degree of integrity and expertise in his positions as Chief of Police and Interim Village Manager with the employees and Village Board of Trustees; and WHEREAS, his professionalism, work ethic, interpersonal skills and analytical abilities, served the Village well in handling any trials and tribulations the Village has encountered; and WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Village James R. Kruger Jr. was actively involved in numerous leadership roles in regional and state wide organizations including, but not limited to: President of the DuPage County Chiefs of Police Association, President of Illinois Chiefs of Police Association, President of the Advisory Board of Directors of North East Multiregional Training, Chair of the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency Police Chiefs Steering Committee, board member of the Illinois Supreme Court Pretrial Practices Commission and the Chicago FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force Executive Board; and WHEREAS, he took the lead in countless Village projects ethically ensuring realization within the parameters of the Village Code including the modernization and expansion of the Police Department lock- up facility ensuring a safe environment for all, and achieving CALEA and ILEAP accreditation further demonstrating his commitment to excellence in law enforcement services; and WHEREAS, James R. Kruger Jr. helped navigate the Village of Oak Brook through multiple challenges including; the COVID-19 Pandemic and an active shooter event at the Oakbrook Center shopping mall.Through his strong leadership these challenges were mitigated enabling the Village to thrive; and WHEREAS, his exemplary honesty and governance is cherished by his contemporaries and employees. He will be fondly remembered as a leader and friend; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees are of the opinion that a record of such faithful service should be made and placed upon the records of the Village. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook on behalf of all Village employees and all Village residents, they do hereby extend their sincerest thanks and gratitude to James R. Kruger Jr. for his many years of indefatigable and loyal service as well as for the example which he set for all those who came in contact with him. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a duly certified copy of this Resolution be delivered to the said James R. Kruger Jr. with the best wishes for continued success in his future endeavors and that this Resolution be placed upon the official permanent records of the Village.
