22-01 Officer and Civilian Employee of the Year Oak Brook Police Department 1200 Oak Brook Road Oak Brook, IL 60523 (630) 368-8702 Contact: Officer Katie Yager Public Information Officer (630) 368-8734 cyager@oak-brook.org FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Oak Brook Police Announce Officer and Civilian Employee of the Year OAK BROOK, IL – February 1, 2022 The Oak Brook Police Department is pleased to announce the Officer of the Year for 2021 is Officer Christian Bartnicki. Officer Bartnicki has been a member of the Oak Brook Police Department since February of 2020 after several years’ experience at the Chicago Police Department. In 2021, Christian Bartnicki has displayed an excellent desire to keep the community safe. He has been credited with 55 Custodian Traffic Arrest, 18 On-View Arrest, 5 Positive Professional Conduct remarks, 4 Certificate of Recognition for self-initiated activity, 2 positive Job Proficiency remarks, 1 External Recognition, and 1 Peer Recognition. Officer Bartnicki is a dedicated public servant who shows up each and every day looking to make a difference within the department and within the Village of Oak Brook. The Civilian Employee of the Year for 2021 is Administrative Coordinator Kathy Koubek. Kathy has been a member of the Department since August of 2012. Kathy is responsible for being the Chief of Police Administrative Assistant and as the Secretary of the Fire and Police Commission for the Village. In 2021, Kathy was an essential organizer for Healing Fields, which were presented, in Oak Brook in September of 2021. This event required an immense amount of coordination for planning, set-up, operations, and teardown. As Secretary of the Board of Fire and Police Commission, Kathy was required to coordinate two police promotional examination processes, an initial police eligibility list, and an alternative registry police eligibility list. Kathy works through challenges efficiently and provides an excellent level of customer service to the community. This is the Oak Brook Police Department’s Sixth Annual Officer of the Year and Civilian Employee of the Year awards. Nominations were submitted by fellow employees to the Department Employee of the Year Committee who then brought forward a recommendation to the Chief of Police for final approval. Normally both employees would be recognized at an upcoming Village Board meeting, however due to COVID restrictions in place with the Board meeting via Zoom that presentation will be at a later date.
