Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment
OAK BROOK, IL – March 1, 2022 - Chief John Krull of the Oak Brook Police Department
announced a team from the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP) will arrive
at the Oak Brook Police Department on March 14, 2022, to examine all policies and operations.
The department is judged based on 179 different ILEAP standards regarding administration,
operations, personnel, and training. The department continually revises its policies and procedures
throughout the year to meet the standards set by ILEAP.
Accreditation will demonstrate the department has achieved a level of professionalism among our
law enforcement peers and validates the methods the department members provide service to
residents and the general public in our community. In addition to improving the agency’s
relationship with the community, accreditation holds the agency more accountable for its actions
limiting liability and risk exposure.
The on-site assessment will occur from March 14, 2022, through March 15, 2022. During that
time, the team will determine whether The Oak Brook Police Department meets each of the
standards necessary to achieve ILEAP’s Tier Two Accreditation.
As part of the on-site assessment, members of the community are invited to offer comments to the
assessment team by calling (630) 368-8736 on Monday, March 14, 2022, between the hours of
3:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. Comments at the public information session, are limited to 10 minutes
and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the ILEAP standards. These standards may

The assessors are Lieutenant Jeff Hamer of the Macomb Police Department and Commander
Donnell D. Austin of the Kankakee Police Department. Both assessors are accomplished
professionals and seasoned Accreditation Managers.
