This four-hour training program reviewed the recently completed Illinois Reform. Commission 100 -Day Report that was established by then Lieutenant Govemor Pat Quinn in response to state concerns. The report covered topics such as Campaign Finance, Procurement, Enforcement, Government Structure, Transparency and Inspiring Better Government. Further, Joseph Birkett and his team discussed important topics including Public Corruption, Official Misconduct, Bribery, Whistleblower Protection, Public Contracts and Bidding, Prohibited Interest in Contracts, Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act. Trustee Carson will be presenting his learning experience to the Village Board and Department Heads at a future Board meeting. "Oak Brook has always taken ethics seriously including recently updating its ethics code. It is important that government leaders take the lead in honesty and integrity" stated Trustee Carson. About the Village of Oak Brook: Founded in 1958, the Village of Oak Brook is located 20 miles west of downtown Chicago and is in proximity to the junction of Interstates 88, 294, and 290. The Village consists mostly of residential subdivisions, with the exception of the Oak Brook Center shopping mall, other retail and office properties along 22nd Street and Interstate 88.
