Village of Oak Brook Receives 33rd Certificate of Achievement
Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting
OAK BROOK, Illinois —Monday, June 20, 2011 —Last week the Village of Oak Brook learned
that it has successfully earned the Certificate of Achievement award for Excellence in
Financial Reporting again, making this the 33rd consecutive year the Village has received
this prestigious award. The Village is in an elite group. Only 1 % of the governments in the
Country with populations less than 10,000 receive both an unqualified opinion and the
Certificate of Achievement Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting as the Village has
done.
According to mandated local ordinances and state statutes it is required that a complete set
of financial statements be published and presented in conformance with accounting principles
generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAP) and audited in accordance with
generally accepted auditing standards by an independent audit firm. The Village's financial
statements have been audited by Sikich, a firm of licensed certified public accountants, in
which, the Village of Oak Brook received an unqualified opinion. Such an opinion basically
states that the Village followed all accounting rules appropriately and that the financial reports
are an accurate representation of its financial condition.
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for year ending December 31, 2010 is
available on the Village's website at www.oak-brook.org. The preparation of this report could
not have been published without the efficient and dedicated services of the entire Finance
Department of the Village of Oak Brook. The financial report is designed to provide our
citizens, customers, investors and creditors with a general overview of the Village's finances
