Village to Conduct Bid for the Supply of Electricity for its
Residential and Small Commercial Retail Customers
Oak Brook, Illinois (September 26, 2011, 3:00 PM) —Residents and small commercial retail customers of
the Village of Oak Brook may soon see a savings on their electrical bills. The Village is preparing to seek
bids for electricity through an Alternative Retail Electric Supplier. The Village's Aggregation Program
seeks to aggregate the retail electric loads of eligible customers located within the Village to negotiate the
best rates for the generation of electric power. With a resident population of approximately 7,900, the
program has the potential to combine residential accounts and small commercial retail accounts into a
buying group that will be attractive to an Alternative Retail Electric Supplier. In addition, the Village of
Oak Brook will be partnering with the villages of Grayslake and Lincolnwood to utilize the economies of
scale and to create even greater electrical aggregation. When combined these communities will seek bids
for electrical on behalf of over 41,430 residential and small retail customers.
The Village will be conducting the bid process for electricity during the month of September 2011. During
the Fall of 2011 the Alternative Retail Electric Supplier that is chosen will be contacting every eligible
residential and small commercial retail customer via mail. Eligible customers will have the opportunity to
opt -out of the program. If this option is chosen customers will continue to receive their electrical supply
from ComEd. If customers want to receive electricity supply from the Alternative Retail Electric Supplier
they do not need to do anything. If no response is received then accounts will automatically be moved over
to the Alternative Retail Electric Supplier. Those customers that do not opt -out of the program and therefore
are moved over to the new Alternative Retail Electric Supplier will continue to receive their electricity bills
from ComEd and would call ComEd for power outages. The Village anticipates that eligible customers will
see their first savings on their February 2012 bill. The Village will continue to update the public regarding
the process via news outlets, the Village newsletter, and the Village website. For additional information

Founded in 1958, the Village of Oak Brook is located 20 miles west of downtown Chicago and is in
proximity to the junction of Interstates 88, 294, and 290. The Village consists mostly of residential
