20111007 PR - Bid from Integrys Energy Services accepted to provide electrcity to OB.l:ontact: David Niemeyer 1200 Oak Brook Road Phone: (630) 368-5000 Oak Brook, IL 60523 Fax: (630) 368-5045 Villages Achieve 30% Reduction on Electricity Rates Oak Brook, Illinois (October 7,Thursday, October 6s1 the Villages of Grayslake, Lincolnwood, and Oak Brook accepted a bid from Integrys Energy Services, Inc. to provide electricity supply for the municipalities' electric aggregation programs. The three communities locked -in electricity rates of 5.52 cents/kWh for residential customers and 5.45 cents/kWh for small business customers. Integrys' rates represent a 30% savings for residential customers and a 32% savings for small business customers on ComEd's current rates for electricity supply. The rates are anticipated to take effect in January 2012. The combined savings to residential and small business customers within the three communities is projected to exceed $6,000,000. "I am proud that Oak Brook is one of the first communities to take advantage of the electrical aggregation program that will save our residents and business community significant money over the next two years", said Village President Gopal Lalmalani. "I want to thank the Village Committee that worked hard on this issue including, Homeowner Association President's Baker Ninny, Harry Peters, Terry O'Malley and Trustees Jerry Wolin and Mark Moy." The three communities conducted the first truly aggregate bid for electricity supply, entering into an intergovernmental agreement to jointly solicit bids from alternative retail electric suppliers on behalf of over 16,000 eligible residential and small business customers using approximately 3 1 0,000,OOOkWh of electricity annually. The bid was conducted without the assistance of an energy broker or consultant, saving the communities' customers an estimated $150,000. Eligible residents and businesses will be sent a letter allowing them to "opt -out" of the contract with Integrys. More information on the timetable and eligibility will be sent out at a later date.
