20120629 PR - 2012 Taste of Oak Brook-events, sponsors FINAL PLANS FOR TASTE OF OAK BROOK ON JULY 3, 2012 Oak Brook, Illinois, June 29, 2012 – Final plans have been made for the annual Taste of Oak Brook, sponsored by McDonald’s Corporation, followed by its award-winning fireworks display. The event will be held on Tuesday, July 3, from 2 – 9 p.m. on the Village of Oak Brook Polo Grounds on 31st Street between Spring and York Roads. Beginning at 2 p.m. this memorable event will feature cuisine from some of the finest restaurants in Oak Brook and the surrounding area. The following restaurants are scheduled to serve tasty samples from their menus: Freshii, Gibsons Steak House, Grotto, Kama Bistro, Kona Grill, Labriola Bakery Café, Pinstripes, Tuscany and Ravioli Oli. To keep you cool, a wide variety of beverages will be available with the added pleasure of a water mister. Live music featuring Chris Green (Jazz) from 2-4 p.m., Vito Zatto (Vegas-style Singer/Entertainer) from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m., Hi Infidelity from 6 – 8 p.m., followed by a DJ, in time for the fireworks event. WLUP radio will have a car on display and have games for Taste attendees. Also starting at 2 p.m. the Taste will have a variety of kids’ activities, including a petting zoo, balloon artists and face painters. Stilt walkers will appear throughout the day to add to the festivities. The Oak Brook Park District will be sponsoring an inflatable “bounce jump” from 3 - 6 p.m. Beginning at 5 p.m., McDonalds once again will be giving out its world famous French Fries and Ronald McDonald is scheduled to make an appearance. Also, the American Heart Association will be doing blood pressure screenings, Special Olympics will be selling glow necklaces, bracelets and raffle tickets for a Harley motorcycle. Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital will be distributing apples along with nutrition facts and information. “We encourage everyone to come early and enjoy the food, musical entertainment, fireworks and fun activities while visiting with friends and neighbors. The purchase of tickets for food, beverages and some children’s activities is available only on the event date. Food and beverage items range from 2 tickets to 7 tickets and cost $1.00 per ticket. There will be several ticket booths to purchase tickets from which can be exchanged for food, beverage or some children’s activities. Onsite parking will be available for $10/vehicle with additional lots walkable from nearby areas. This year the Drake Hotel will NOT be available for parking. Rain date for the fireworks display only is July 4, 2012.
