This is the field where players from around the world have traveled to compete in a prestigious polo tournaments – even Prince Charles played in Oak Brook in 1986! This Friday July 19th at 3:30 p.m. the 2013 inaugural match will kick off on the historic Oak Brook Polo Club grounds. “Oak Brook is entering an exciting period and revival of the polo sport, and we are really pleased to announce the launch of our website (www.oakbrookpoloclub.com) and Facebook page, giving polo fans additional opportunities to interact and get a taste for what polo in Oak Brook is all about,” said Bev Taylor, an Oak Brook Polo Committee member. The Oak Brook Polo Club Committee is composed of citizen volunteers who are playing an instrumental role in its success while providing a fresh look forward. “Like any other sport, polo needs to continually grow and develop, and polo matches in Oak Brook are a superb way of taking the game to new audiences,” said Blaine Wing, Assistant Village Manager of Oak Brook. Following Friday’s match, there will be a 1-hour afterglow party. That party will be in the VIP tent and general admission and VIP attendees, polo fans, and persons interested in polo are invited to attend. Light hors d'oeuvres will be passed, music will be played, players will mingling with attendees, and drinks will be provided. This luxurious affair gives spectators a close and personal look into the iconic history of polo in Oak Brook. In 2013, there will be a total of six (6) dates including Friday’s kick-off match.
