RECOMMENDED MOTION: President Lalmalani recommends that the Village Board
approve Resolution 2022-BOT-PROTEM-R-2035 Electing and Appointing A Village
President Pro Tem
Background/History:
Section 1-4A-4 "President Pro Tem" of the Village Code provides for the appointment of
a President Pro Tem:
"A. If the President is temporarily absent because of an incapacity to perform
official duties, but the incapacity does not create a vacancy in the office, the
corporate authorities shall elect one of their members to act as President Pro Tern.
The President Pro Tern, during this absence or disability, shall perform the duties
and possess all the rights and powers of the President, but shall not be entitled to
vote both as President Pro Tern and as Trustee. "
Village President Gopal Lalmalani has expressed his desire to plan for any unexpected
emergency where he may find himself incapacitated or otherwise unavailable while he is
in office. Therefore, President Lalmalani is bringing forth his recommendation to appoint
Trustee Laurence Herman as President Pro Tem.
Recommendation:
President Lalmalani recommends that the Village Board approve Resolution 2022-BOT-
PROTEM-R-2035 Electing and Appointing Trustee Laurence Herman as Village President
Pro Tem.
