RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached
ordinance authorizing the sale, donation, or disposal of surplus items.
Background/History:
The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of office furniture from various departments,
the sale of nine (9) Tasers and duty holsters from the Police Department, the
recycling/destruction of nine (9) Taser cameras from the Police Department, and the
donation of thirty-seven (37) assorted hoses from the Fire Department that have reached
the end of their useful lives and have been replaced with newer models.
The Village will register the office furniture with iBid,an online auctioneer run by the State
of Illinois. If no bids are received through the online auction, any remaining furniture will
then be disposed of properly. The Tasers will be sold to Accredited Security, Naples
Florida, for $200 for each Taser with duty holster and safety. The Taser cameras will be
sent back to the manufacturer, Axon RMA Deer Valley, Phoenix, Arizona, for
recycling/destruction. The hoses will be donated to Custer Township Volunteer Fire
Department, Wilmington, Illinois. Staff will request letters of indemnification prior to
any equipment sale or donation.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale,
donation, or disposal of surplus items.
